"Plenty of oppressive bullshit goes down under the guise of nice. Every day, nice, caring, friendly people try to take our bodily autonomy away from us (women, queers, trans people, nonbinaries, fat people, POC…you name it, they just don’t think we know what’s good for us!). These people would hold a door for us if they saw us coming. Our enemies are not only the people holding ‘Fags Die God Laughs’ signs, they are the nice people who just feel like marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense, it’s just how they feel! We once got a very nice comment on this site that we decided we could not publish because its content was ‘But how can I respect women when they dress like – sorry to say it, pardon my language – sluts?’. This is vile, disgusting misogyny and no amount of sugar coating and politeness can make it okay. Similarly, most of the people who run ex-gay therapy clinics are actually very nice and polite! They just want to save you! Nicely! Clearly, niceness means FUCK ALL."

You don’t seem to have taken into account the fact that “zealot” in the context of “religion” is often associated with militantism and extremism. So to fix your translation, what your alleged atheist has in all likelihood said is “I will never tolerate militant religious extremism.” …Which honestly hardly comes off as horrible to me.

I am a black woman that reclaims the word Slut

Black women do not have the privilege of reclaiming the word slut without validating the historically entrenched idealology and recurring messages about what and who the Black Woman is.

Black women have worked tirelessly since the 19th century colored women’s clubs to rid society of the sexist/racist vernacular of slut,jezebel,hottentot,mammy,mule,sapphire so that may be able to build our sense of selves and redefine what women who look like us represent.

When white women reclaim the world slut, it is considered a revolutionary act. When women of color reclaims the word, the world shoots us a look as if we’ve finally admitted to the truth. 

So I beg white feminists to understand that although we support your right to reclaim ‘Slut’ and wear whatever you choose,wherever you choose,and whenever you choose, we as women of color do not have the privilege and if we DO choose to reclaim the word it is not to be romanticized by white feminists or SlutWalk.

Our relationship with the word ‘Slut’ is a bumpy road, a road that is filled with hate,validation by a racist misogynistic society,and a struggle to maintain bodily integrity in a world that has done everything against us. That is a road that we as Black Women must choose to take, and ours alone, and if we choose not to, PLEASE respect that choice, and do not demand that reclamation onto us.

I got an anonymous ask from a person a while ago from someone who said they were no longer vegan because it contributed to their eating disorder. They didn’t blame veganism for their eating disorder, they simply said that being vegan made it easier for them to continue their pattern of disordered eating. Some vegans reblogged that post and said that the anonymous person should go back to being vegan because animals were more important than their health. Some said that they also had eating disorders but they’re still vegan so the anonymous asker was obviously doing it wrong.

These people don’t give a fuck about anyone but themselves. They have a “holier than thou” attitude and believe that anything they can do everyone else can too. If you don’t follow the same school of thought they do, you are not worthy of their respect. Those are the vegans that I cannot stand and refuse to spend any time on.
